Daegu: General Sinsunggyeom Historic Site near Palgonsan Mountain Park

Wearing General Sin Sung Gyeom's armour for protection. The general gave his armor to Wang Geon to help him live on the battlefield during the Later Three Kingdoms period.



Level: Easy flats, mostly bike path, but distance can be challenging from South Daegu or Downtown so upper beginner to Intermediate
Navigation: Beginner friendly. Sticking to the path that leads NORTH on Sincheon River (from Downtown/Camp Henry), go out to the Otter Bike Rest Area, take a right across the bridge across Sincheon river and follow Geumho River. Follow Geumho River until you see a sign and path that leads up off the river and will connect you to the vehicle bridge (with large protected sidewalk) and head towards Chilgok. Merge toward the river area in this town and follow the Donghwacheon River bike paths toward Palgonsan/Pagyesa. Just stay straight and correct you ways to stay (it will lead up to a road Pagyesa Way but go back down on the bike path, cross the tiny stream and go until you see a large complex on your left. Head up to the road and into the entrance area of the General Sinsunggyun Historical Site.

Who is General Sin Sung Gyeom?
General Sin Sung Gyeom was a general in the warring times of the Later Three Kingdoms period in Korea. He was important in forming the state of Goryeo. Stories say that he gave his armour to the king on the battlefield, where the kind survived and he was killed. So, that is why you can where the his armour at this site.
