Art Gallery of Recent Projects

Korea has modernized at a record pace but an oasis of nature can still be found easily in its parks, mountains, and beaches. I love the juxtaposition of city life and natural life as much as that of modern and traditional found in this beautiful country. Impressionism and its cafes, promenading, boating, and peaceful landscape paintings have long influenced me. Seeing Korea with this Impressionist lens and appreciation for life has added great value to my life and my time spent creating. I hope that viewers find respite and gain some insight into life in Korea.

My inspiration is found through my adventures cycling, kayaking, hiking, visiting parks, stolling through streets dotted with cafes and caravanning with my family in Korea. I often paint in Plein air and also use my own photographs from my adventures to create beautiful memories.

Mountain Temple

This quiet temple is nestled in a quiet mountain and sits over a bubbling river that flows gently down. The temple is run by women and its luscious garden overflows. All of this respite is just a short walk from the bustling city. Oil pastel on cotton. 31 x 25 cm

Guam Confucian Academy

Traditional Guam Confucian Academy sits upon a foothill overlooking modern highrises in Daegu, Korea. Oil pastel on paper 21 x 30 cm.

Zen Rocks

Zen rocks are often found in natural places in Korea. I often find them on hikes and on beaches. It can be a nice reminder to see someone has been there before and that we are not alone. Watercolor 51 x 36 cm.

Golden Hour

We stopped for tea at this hanok (traditional Korean structure). The kids ran around chasing frogs while we relaxed in the soft breeze on Chuseok. Oil pastel. 31 x 24 cm.

Full Moon

Korean holidays are often based on the lunar calender. I love feeling the connection with the full moon to be the start of a new season. It makes the universe feel like it is connected to your own life. Oil pastel. 31x24cm
